English Language Acquisition Centre

Saara nilla hosts the first privately owned English Language Acquisition Center (ELAC) in Sri Lanka, that is equipped to help children acquire English language skills in an informal and enjoyable way at a young age. This is done through listening to audio tracks of nursery rhymes, songs and stories while referring to a book containing the same material in order get familiar with letter shapes and vocabulary. This creates intimacy with an unfamiliar language and form part of pleasant childhood experiences. The material is available in Sinhala and Tamil too, at the Nursery and primary level, so that adults can help their children with this syllabus, even if they are not proficient in English themselves.

The Saara nilla reading room contains a great collection of English books suitable for pre-school and primary school children. We have created a space which encourages children to absorb the enchantment of books but to also become comfortable with English. Through such familiarization we hope to make learning English a fun experience.
